When a new year is in sight, most of us are on a mission to do better, get fitter and be more organised. But after a few months, we fall off the resolution waggon. Don’t worry, no one is perfect. But I can help you out with a little organisational hack that will keep your stash tracked this year and for many to come. My printable embroidery supply tracker is your way to stay on top of your supplies and it’s an organisational habit you can stick to.
If you’re a keen embroiderer, it’s so easy to tie yourself in knots keeping up with projects, orders and the supplies needed to complete them. Many stitch artists have learnt the hard way that guessing how much we have or how much we’ll need can be frustrating. After suffering for far too long with this problem, I focussed on finding a way to make sure that I never run out of any of my supplies.
After a great deal of thought and by using all of my embroidering experience, I began to trial different tracking methods. The end result is a printable embroidery supply tracker that I’m excited about sharing with you. It covers 6 embroidery categories as well as making sure there’s space for you to log the main characteristics of your supplies. Each sheet has different categories depending on the supply type – it’s a foolproof and very satisfying way of never running out of what you need when you need it most. What’s more, each sheet can be printed off as and when you need it.
Let’s take the ‘threads’ inventory sheet. We all know how irritating it can be when we try to colour match ‘on the hoof’. What looks like an identical product in the shop or online arrives with a different texture and a slightly different hue to the one you’ve been using in an embroidery design that’s taken you months. My tracker sheet helps you log the company name of the thread producer, the colour and colour code, the number of skeins in your stash, the material type, length and room to make notes.
For the ‘fabrics’ inventory sheet, you can log the material, colour, length, and quantity. The ‘needles’ sheet will track the company name, needle use/type, size, and quantity. Your hoops can be tracked in the categories for the material, shape, size, colour, and quantity. There is an inventory sheet for all those odds and ends that are just as important for keeping track of too.
And because I care so much about the art of needlework, I’ve added a bonus tracking sheet to log your library of textile and embroidery books. The tracking sheet has got a space for ‘location’ so you won’t have to spend hours searching.
The printable embroidery supply tracker is perfect for embroidery enthusiasts who want to get organised. And it’s so easy to use, I know it’ll be at least one new year’s resolution you’ll stick to.
